I have had PMS symptoms for as long as I can remember. When my symptoms escalated significantly over the last year, I knew it was a sign from my body that I needed to do something about it.
Having not had success with mainstream medicine I decided to look elsewhere. I came across Chelsey’s page and signed up to work with her one on one. This is the best decision I could have made. I worked with Chelsey one on one for approximately 8 weeks. As I am approaching my 40s I started noticing some changes to my body that I was not happy with. Chelsey helped me literally put puzzle pieces together in order for me to see how diet and exercise effects my body, mood, and mind. There is so much noise surrounding diet and exercise, especially on the internet. Chelsey explained the benefits of different diets and lifestyle changes and how to use components of many “noisy” diets to benefit and improve my lifestyle. One of the issues that I was experienced was a later and heavier period post children. This was something that I have been noticing but tolerating for approximately 10 years. For me, deciding to work with Chelsey was also finally deciding to work with myself. My complacency before working with her fostered a deep distrust within my body. I have spent years in and out of doctors and nutritionists office, asking to be seen and heard in my pursuit for wellness, energy and optimal health. I had gotten myself to such a place of depletion and burn out that I didn’t know how to get my feet under me again. I had grown up with a nutrition model for eating disorder recovery that looked very black and white. Chelsey taught me it is anything but black and white and gave me the tools to tune into my own body to help regulate its needs. Chelsey guided me week after week- cheering me on, giving me permission, answering all my questions, soothing my fears and ultimately becoming such a safe space. I started working with Chelsey at a very pivotal point in my life- and wellness journey. She opened my eyes to so many of the ways that I was getting in my own way around my healing journey. About 6 months prior, I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease and western medicine was not helping any of my symptoms. In our initial consultation together Chelsey said to me that she would work with me on “healing the root cause, not just treating my symptoms”, and that is exactly what she did! I reached out to Chelsey regarding herbs for help with what I thought was perimenopause. I was having night sweats, irregular periods and crazy PMS which I have never have dealt with. After just a few weeks all symptoms were relieved. And I’m happy to report I’m back to a regular 28 day cycle with no PMS symptoms! In addition the night sweats are totally gone. I was originally referred to Chelsey for acupuncture, but after talking with her, I decided to commit to her full three-month program—and I’m so glad I did. My journey started about 2 years ago, while I’ve always experienced migraines, they were far and few between, then suddenly, around the time I gave up alcohol and the use of benzodiazepines for anxiety, I noticed that my migraines increased with frequency, typically during my period. I chalked it up to bad PMS (along with significant mood swings, I’ve been fortunate to not get bad cramping). Slowly, the migraines and headaches began becoming a daily occurrence and were affecting my work and home life. I went to my primary care who as most western medicine doctors do, gave me drugs to manage on a day to day basis. The drugs made me feel worse and this constant state of pain and emotional upheaval prompted me to seek out what is considered alternative medicine. Enter Chelsey. I brought up to Chelsey that my blood work had come back and I was severely anemic, had digestion issues, and a long-standing anxiety disorder that I was still utilizing an SSRI for. I was surprised to learn that long term use of SSRI can actually cause migraines. I made the decision to discontinue use and with Chelsey’s guidance on diet and a personalized Chinese herbal medicine formulated by Chelsey, my life, quite literally changed. I began with excessive fatigue, I work a desk job and would be so fatigued after work that I would just transfer to the couch and that would be the end of my day. We started slowly, as I was vegan at that time we started some dietary changes and I noticed my energy levels increase. The next step was the herbs and I continued to experience transformations in my overall health and well being. My digestion issues got better, my focus sharpened and fatigue vanished. I started working out again. I noticed that the mood swings I “always” had before my period just didn’t happen anymore. Anxiety has been essentially non-existent.
